LET’S…TRANSLATE! THAT IS, TRANSLATIONS & CO.

English/French/German >< Italian (and more thanks to a team of native speakers covering different language combinations)

One cannot simply open a dictionary to claim to be able to translate in any field: one needs in-depth knowledge and, often, a distinct sensibility and personal interest can make it possible to convey concepts and expressions in the best possible way. Relying on professionals who are passionate about certain topics can be the key to transferring concepts in the right way.

Choosing someone who knows your industry first-hand is important!!

Before tackling the content for each new client, I study the characteristics as well as the brand and company register in order to tune in to their reality and truly get to speak their language, adapting to their style by grasping its various nuances. And there is nothing worse than inconsistent jargon in the different languages in which you want to convey a commercial message: everything needs to be aligned so as not to make any missteps.

Marketing translations are my area of specialisation, but I handle various types of text thanks to my team of trusted collaborators in various European and non-European languages.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE AREAS
IN WHICH I REGULARLY TRANSLATE

COSMETICS, FRAGRANCES & BEAUTY

I have always had a genuine passion for make-up and cosmetics, and now these sectors are my day-to-day business. Using an iconic and persuasive language is my trump card to convey the right hues of a message and speak the same language as the customer, whatever the target audience.

Blush or ‘fard’ as we say in Italian? Well, definitely the first option, given that English has now taken over from French!

FASHION

So many magazines I read as a young girl: I liked, in particular, lingering over the captions and descriptions of the images. Years later, I started translating for the fashion world, putting into practice what I had picked up from 'paper'.

What is the difference between a halter neck and a boat neckline? Between full-grain leather and split leather? These concepts will be rendered in a meaningful manner by means of concrete knowledge of the various technical aspects and not only by means of cold terminological research.

LET'S is a boutique where content takes shape depending on needs. I will customise your texts with the accuracy of an experienced and proportion-conscious tailor.

DESIGN & FURNISHING

Virtually since I started my business, I have been working with designers and prestigious companies in the world of furniture. The terminology related to this sector and to design has become part and parcel of my daily vocabulary, to the extent that I also choose furnishings or complementary items for my home thanks to my great knowledge.

My specialisation is mainly kitchens, bathrooms, systems, lighting, and tapware. Like a craftsperson polishes a piece of wood or marble to achieve a flawless result, I like perfecting a text until it is smooth and flowing in the target language.

I will chisel out your texts with painstaking care and attention to detail. Solid wood or veneer? Classic or contemporary style?

TOURISM

Hotel and resort websites, as well as brochures and tender presentations, are another specialisation of mine in which I can guarantee great expertise.

Not just words, but the right tone of voice for appealing texts in the target language.

Sea or mountains? An active holiday or relaxation at the spa? With my words, I will introduce your guests to your amazing tourist offer.

Shall we hit the road? Let's embark on a new adventure together!

TRANSCREATION

When a text needs a specific edge that goes well beyond translation, we are speaking of transcreation, a process of text adaptation and localisation that allows handling all the nuances of the target market.

For instance, the name of a product might be offensive in a country other than its country of origin. This calls for the advice of a language expert who can grasp the intrinsic meaning of terms and expressions of the country of origin and anticipate possible issues depending on the target audience.

Thanks to my collaboration and a thorough analysis of the target market, your texts will have a different flavour that will truly win over your target audience.

CAT TOOLS

I am a human being who relies on the use of technology to always provide the right stylistic and terminological consistency (regardless of the number of language experts involved in a project).

If required, I use computer-aided translation systems (so-called CAT TOOLs, like Trados Studio): these are not machine translation programmes, but tools that create translation memories, so the translator's work is consistent over time.

For particularly long and complex and/or urgent projects that call for the collaboration of several professionals in order to meet deadlines, they can all align on the same terminological and stylistic choices, thus avoiding that the same concepts or frequent terms are translated thus avoiding that the same concepts or frequent terms are translated differently at later points in time or in other sections of the same document.

REVISION
- SECOND OPINION

Did you translate texts yourself or entrusted a translation project to others without much satisfaction? Are you not convinced with the result?

I can revise content that has already been translated and propose a new version (even with several variants) with the relevant comments so we can assess together what changes need to be made. These changes may be more or less substantial, but the objective will always be to offer a text that is effective in the target language and tailored to the target market.

MY CREATIVE PROCESS

I have been using a multi-stage translation process for several years to ensure a quality product, however urgent and whatever timeframe is agreed upon:

  • Reading the text

  • Writing the first draft

  • Point-by-point checking with the source text and terminology research (to unmask any typos, omissions, inaccuracies, misinterpretations)

  • Proof-reading without the source text to ensure that the translation is natural and fluent as if it had been produced directly in the target language
